about

The Ruin Creek/Ostrichsized single was recorded & produced by Pete Steinkopf at Little Eden Studios (Asbury Park, NJ) and features the album version of Ruin Creek and a cover of Lifetime's Ostrichsized, which is the closing track to their legendary album, Hello Bastards! Recorded during the Ruin Creek sessions, McGee's version of Ostrichsized is a slower, personal affair in 6/8 time. "This version is more Muppet show than the hardcore finger pointed in the air version we are all familiar with." This cover was released with the permission of Dr. Dan Yemin.

This download also comes with some bonus material!

The Turnaround was officially released on 2008's Brian McGee & The Hollow Speed. This version is from a 2005 session recorded by Louis Munroe in Black Mountain, NC. Mary Erin Dellea played stand-up bass.

Hell Is Open All Night was also released on Brian McGee & the Hollow Speed. This live version was recorded at Southpaw (rip) in Brooklyn in 2010 during Andy Friedman's record release show. Tommy Ramone's folk duo with his wife Claudia, Uncle Monk, also played the show! The Hollow Speed on this track was Pete James-electric guitar, Zack Plemmons-bass and Chad Hildebran-drums. Andy Friedman also jumps in on vocal.

Here I Am was officially released on McGee's 2010 album, The Taking Or The Leaving. This demo of Brian and Mary Ellen Davis was recorded in Brian's living room leading up the recording of the album.

Next Five Minutes was officially released on Plow United's 2013 album, Marching Band. This track was recorded in Brian's Highland Park NJ apartment and was used by Joel and Sean as the working demo of the song.

Hold Sway was also first released on 2010's The Taking Or The Leaving. This version is McGee's solo arrangement which is very different than the galloping full band version on the album. This track was recording in 2013 in Lafayette Hill, PA at Kettle Pot Tracks as part of the On The Hill series. McGee recorded 5 songs total for the series and they can be purchased here:
